The Gran Sasso National Park and Monti della Laga It extends 150.000 hectares and includes 44 common to three different regions, Abruzzo, Lazio and Marche.

The park encompasses three distinct mountain ranges: the majestic limestone dolomite Gran Sasso chain, with the highest Apennine peak, Corno Grande (2912 m), whose base has survived the Calderone Glacier, the southernmost of Europe; Monti della Laga, in the northern sector of the Park, also reach a sizeable percentage of Mont Gorzano (2458 m), and up the mountain complex sandstone-marl higher and extended the Apennines; a northeast del Parco, the Twin Mountains, two limestone mountains affected by complex karst.
