On the southwestern side of the National Park of Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga, on top of 1460 m s.l.m. making it one of the highest in Italy fortifications, Roccacalascio overlooking the Conca Aquilana. The medieval structure, clinging to the limestone, It gives this corner of Abruzzo a magical atmosphere that has also made movie set for several famous films such as "Lady Hawk" and "The Name of the Rose". The hike proposal will lead right on the rock through a scenic circular route with departure and return to the beautiful village of Santo Stefano di Sessanio, virtuous example of tourist development of the area. Among its narrow streets and its stone houses will find, at the end of the excursion, also a welcome relief thanks to the tasting of local products at "La Bettola di Geppetto".

PROGRAM:
Ore 8.00 – Participants Meet at the Visitor Center of Coastal biotope, waterfront C. Colombo north side, San Salvo Marina and travel by own car. For participants with different backgrounds from Vasto-San Salvo, agreeing on a specific date or directly to the place of beginning of the excursion.
Ore 10.30 – Arrival in Santo Stefano di Sessanio and departure hike for Roccacalascio and Santa Maria della Pieta with a short guided tour and picnic lunch by the participants
Ore 16.15 – Back to Santo Stefano di Sessanio, guided tour of the village and tasting of local products at “La Bettola di Geppetto” (lentil soup own production, 2 types of salami Aquilano,
canestrato Style of Castel del Monte, crostini with olive oil Pescara, Abruzzo liqueurs)
Ore 20,00 – Return to San Salvo Marina
