Day in the Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga National Park to discover the Lands of Baronia. The easy excursion on foot from the beautiful Medici village of Santo Stefano di Sessanio will lead us to the Rocca di Calascio, eagle's nest overlooking the surrounding valleys from above. We will end the day with the boundless views of the Campo Imperatore plateau, the little Tibet of Italy.
MORNING:
Ore 7.30 – Departure from Lanciano by bus
– Arrival in Santo Stefano di Sessanio and start of an easy excursion on foot 5 km to Rocca Calascio. Visit to the Rocca.
Ore 12.30 – Lunch at Il Rifugio della Rocca restaurant.
– typical appetizer with meats, cheeses and vegetables
– Pasta with mutton ragout (vegetarian alternatives)
– sweet of home
– water and house wine included
AFTERNOON:
– Easy walking tour of 3 km by road from Rocca Calascio to Calascio. Transfer by bus to S. Stefano di Sessanio.
– Visit of the village of Santo Stefano di Sessanio and free time for shopping at the artisan shops
Ore 16.30 – Departure by bus to cross the Campo Imperatore plateau. Photo stops. Ore 20.45 – Return to Lanciano
