Registrations can take place the same morning between 7:30 and the 8:45 at Convent of Sant’Antonio in San Buono, but it is recommended to contact the organizers within hours 22:00 on Saturday 3 July.
DESCRIPTION OF THE HIKING ROUTE OF 9 KM
After registration, you will move with your own cars to the historic center of San Buono to start the excursion on foot.
Crossed the village, between features and narrow streets, you arrive at the "Pincera", an ancient oven for cooking clay, still working today, immersed in an important naturalistic and landscape context, in fact, your gaze can range from the green hills of the middle Treste Valley to the Adriatic Sea.
From Pincera, the path proceeds downhill through an oak forest to reach the imposing Quercia del Vallone, which with its 8,10 cm in circumference and the estimated age of approximately 1000 years, in all likelihood it earns the title of oldest oak in Abruzzo and one of the first 10 of Italy.
We will continue towards San Buono going up the historic center passing through various places of interest such as: the Old Fountain, monumental source dating back to the sixteenth century; the Baronial Palace of the Caracciolo; the Church of San Lorenzo in whose crypt the relics of San Buono are kept, patron saint of the city.
Closed the ring, we will return to the Convent of Sant’Antonio by car, where you will be able to enjoy, in a nice and cool picnic area, the refreshment offered by the organizing associations.
