The National Park of Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise, it is famous for two fundamental aspects: it is the oldest park in Italy and one of the most popular for spotting wildlife, especially of large mammals.
September is the month when powerful noises resembling roars echo in the deep valleys of the Park, audible even several kilometers away, are the bells, clear signal of the start of the deer mating station.
We will leave at night to go up the slope of Monte Marsicano up to a large clearing right at the foot of the mountain, the highest in the Park, where it will be possible to spot large herds of female deer and large males in constant challenge with each other, with the aim of earning the right to reproduce to the sound of bells and, if that's not enough, of impressive hand-to-hand and gored.
In fact, the privilege of mating is reserved only for the strongest and most impressive males.
At the end of the excursion we will head towards the pretty village of Opi where we will visit the museum and the wildlife area of the Apennine chamois which, in this Park, was saved from an almost certain extinction.
Finally we will go to Civitella Alfedena, another beautiful village in the Park, where we will visit the museum and the wildlife area of the Apennine wolf, trying to reconstruct his story by telling how in the not-so-distant past he escaped extinction by taking refuge in the wildest areas of Abruzzo, and that today is slowly regaining its freedom.
Program of the day
05.00 - Appointment with the parking guide of the “Il Vecchio Mulino” Camping in Opi (AQ), briefing and departure for the night excursion;
08.30 - end of excursion and transfer by car to Opi, Breakfast, visit to the museum and the chamois wildlife area;
10.00 - transfer by car to Civitella Alfedena, visit to the museum and the wolf wildlife area;
12.30 - greetings and return to homes.

They accept reservations no later than noon 20:00 on Friday 25 September. Such term is intended also for any cancellations.
Excursion regulations:
-The event will take place to achieve the minimum number of 10 participants and a maximum number of 15.
-The guides reserve the right to make changes to the program according to weather conditions and any other logistical problems.
-The sighting of wildlife is not guaranteed as it is not possible to predict with certainty the fauna dynamics.
-The guides reserve the right to accept or decline the event accessions, After careful evaluation of the physical condition, experience and appropriate equipment those interested in participating.
-The guides will wait for any latecomers for a maximum 15 minutes after the time established by the program, after which the excursion will begin.
