The excursion starts from Loc. Balzolo in the municipality of Pennapiedimonte, picturesque village perched on a rocky ridge to the gorge of the river Avello. The easy path is wedged in the deep valley offering picturesque views on this area of deep canyons of Majella. We will meet pastoral caves, the typical Mediterranean vegetation until the fresh faggeta where the clear stream Avello drops swirling making continuous jumps forming suggestive waterfalls. Once at Madonna delle springs back in behind through an old path that goes up the slope of the valley until reaching the characteristic Lodge Pischioli that faces steeply towards the valley below.
