The Majella is known as the mountains of the shepherds and the holy hermits. On its slopes and the green mountain pastures located on steep slopes, for centuries wandering local pastors or even coming from puglie led the flocks, retracing what for centuries has been the way of life and the largest economy in central-southern Italy, transhumance. The eastern side of Majella corrugated millennia by the action of the weather offered an ideal environment for these people. Grotte, ever green pastures and temperate climate offered everything I needed to lively and wild life of the shepherd.
The proposed route follows paths and places that have for years been the undisputed kingdom of shepherds until you reach the Top Macirenelle to share 2017 m, bristling mountain which acts as a watershed between two of the most wild and deep valleys Majella, Val Serviera and the Valley of Palombaro.

PROGRAM:
Ore 7,30 - Departure from the Visitor Center of Coastal biotope, waterfront C. Colombo north side, San Salvo Marina and travel by own car (those who do not have car can make use of car sharing service). For different backgrounds, the appointment is expected at the exit from the highway at Val Sangri (A14) or directly at the point of beginning of the excursion.
